Recently I read a very discouraging newspaper article on why it sucks to have red hair. Now, I don’t have red hair, (though my hair does shine a rich chestnut/red colour in the sunlight) but I think this is a terrible attitude to have. To make matters worse, one of the women quite confidently declared that there are no good-looking men with red hair and if she’d had a red headed baby boy she would have bleached his hair. Oh now, come on, that’s way too harsh. What would happen when your boy grew up and figured out that he had red hair?
Now, I can quite understand why some people are negative about having red hair. I remember a friend of mine who has a beautiful head of flaming red hair suffered a torrent of nasty names like ‘carrot top’ and ‘ginger minger’ (although I have to shake my head at the unoriginality of the taunts and the awkward forced rhyme of the latter). But these people are just plain stupid. Red hair seems so rare and so vivid. It’s different, and that bemuses people. I, however, think red hair is just the most beautiful type of hair anyone can have. Sure, black’s nice, blonde is cute, but red? Red is just so flexible.
To address the issue of unattractive ginger haired people, I’m going to set out today to prove that woman wrong by showing you, my lovely readers, some images of four red-headed people I think are simply gorgeous. Some of them you might agree with, some maybe not, but to me each of the following people are just stunning, and if you don’t agree with that at least, hopefully you’ll agree that they are wonderfully talented.
Exhibit A – Seth Green

Look at that hair, it's just so pretty.
If you watch Family Guy you’ll know that Seth voices Chris, the portly and frankly stupid blond child of Peter Griffin, from whom he gets his figure and his intellect, and Lois Griffin (née Pewterschmidt), herself an attractive and fiery redhead. Maybe you recognise him from the Austin Powers films in which he played Scott Evil, the son of Mike Myers’ eccentric antagonist, Dr Evil. Actually, it was these films that first introduced me to Seth Green, and Seth himself that introduced me to the world of redheads. Seth Green certainly isn’t ugly. I had a crush on him for almost three years. And I know he dyes/dyed his hair a lot, his natural, vibrant red is absolutely amazing.
Exhibit B – Anneliese Van Der Pol

Isn't she stunning?
I know, I know, a Disney girl, how could I? If you actually like watching kids’ shows, you may recognise her from That’s So Raven. But look at her; she’s gorgeous! Not only that, but she’s a brilliant actress and has a very powerful singing voice. I know I can only really compare Disney films and TV series right now but seriously, I know Disney sucks but she is amazing. I have nothing bad to say about her. I hope she’ll be very successful some day. I’m sure she will. We need more successful redheads like this one.
Exhibit C – Martin Skarendahl

The picture isn't great but I assure you, his hair's a dark red.
Though not greatly obvious in this picture, Swedish bassist Martin Skarendahl has hair of a dark red. And he’s just adorable. Swedish, red hair, blue eyes, musician, talented, multilingual… what else could I possibly ask for? I don’t blame you if you dpon’t recognise him though – not many people I know have even seen his more prolific band members’ faces yet! Bassist and guitarist for The Hoosiers, Martin puts his talents to work onstage in a most amazing way. You should see it if you get the chance, you really should.
Exhibit D – Danny Elfman

...BRB *runs into bedroom and locks the door*
Maybe you think it’s cheating to use that nice picture of him being young and sexy and onstage performing. Well, I’m going to remedy this in a bit by putting up more pics of Elfman that I think are delicious. Now, Elfman is a real talent. He can act, he can sing, he writes awesome music, he plays instruments. And he’s absolutely beautiful. If I could find a guy who looks as beautiful as Danny does in the image I’ve chosen, I’d be a happy woman. And if he was also as talented and as funny I’d be ecstatic.
Haha, I actually zoned out for a bit staring at his hair. It’s just… wow. Surely if you don’t think Danny is a handsome redhead, you must agree that he’s a talented composer? With the exquisite Edward Scissorhands soundtrack and inspiring Batman score under his belt, not to mention the striking Spider-Man music and the bizarre musical stylings of Oingo Boingo, how can anyone deny his musical prowess?
I’ve had my say. I’d love to hear what anyone else has to think. Go ahead and comment if you have any thoughts on the matter, especially if you happen to be a redhead. And if you are, I’ll bet your hair is gorgeous.
To end, as promised, here are a few more images of my most favourite redhead.

Isn't he cute?He's so sweet I could explode.*splode*
